Practical Open Forms

Jonah Samuels has been practicing karate since a friend found a book about martial arts in the elementary school library when he was kindergarten. He started attending the ITC events in 2011 and was part of the Giroux Bros. Elite Demo Team. Even then he knew that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Now, 18 years later, he is right on track and preparing for his master rank.
While learning traditional karate and rising through the ranks, his love for competitive sport karate grew. That meant incorporating weapons and some flips/jump kicks into his practice routine. Juggling traditional karate, extreme performance karate, and martial arts tricking pushed Jonah to find the best way to compete showing all his hard work in a single form. What he came up with is what will be covered in this seminar.
On July 17th at 9:00AM PST, Jonah will go over weapons and choreographing creative forms. While his weapon of choice is either 1 or 2 katanas, Jonah also loves spinning a bo. The bo is one of the best starter weapons to practice with. In this seminar, you will go from basic strikes and transitions, to some flashier techniques and spins as you're guided through the process of making a design form that is both aesthetic and effective, building upon a strong traditional base and giving a fun flare to competition.

We have set up a special Virtual ITC Group on Facebook, strictly for Registered VITC Participants.
Links to all the Zoom seminars, instructions for the challenges, and more will be available in the group. It will be a great place to connect and stay in the loop with what's happening!
