Introducing UFAF ITC Instructor #8 Clara Melendez: Empowering Youth with the POWERKIDS SURVIVAL Seminar!

 

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our UFAF Instructor #8  Clara Melendez Clara Melendez, who will be leading an engaging, transformative, and essential seminar for our young attendees: POWERKIDS SURVIVAL. The goal of the POWERKIDS SURVIVAL seminar is crucial - teaching children the necessary skills to survive attacks by bullies, predators, and active shooters. Power Kids will immerse themselves in high-energy, interactive scenarios, equipping them with the confidence to activate key strategies that can keep them safe and secure. Data has shown us alarming trends – 40% of children are bullied at school, 18% cyberbullied. Furthermore, 90% of abused kids know their abuser. The U.S. also faced 656 mass shootings last year (2023). These statistics emphasize the essential need for our children to be prepared, informed, and vigilant. Our seminar's focus is not only on survival but also on prevention. The seminar will cover nonviolent strategies to tackle bullying. It will provide age-appropriate language and key identifiers to help children communicate, identify potential predators, and form prevention plans. In the face of an active threat, the PowerKids Survival seminar will enable our young ones to understand and utilize a tactical active aggressor model that embodies "Run, Hide, Fight". By learning these vital skills, our Power Kids will be able to break free from potential victimhood, demonstrating instead their resilience, courage, and quick thinking. Clara Melendez Clara Melendez started training Martial Arts since 1978 and is Master instructor of K.W. Karate/Tae Kwon Do Centers in El Centro, Calexico & Brawley California: • International presenter of Safety Seminars in bullying, predators and active shooters  • Recognized top ranked competitor in sparring, forms, weapons and board breaking by Martial Arts Illustrated Magazine.  • UFAF School of the Year for 2011 & 2017  • Multiyear including 2023 recipient of Gold Level UFAF membership award  • 5th Degree Professional Black Belt in the Chuck Norris System  • Awarded the UFAF 2005 Female Competitor of Year  • Recognized by the United States Congress for her involvement in her community  • Level 2 Coach Master rank in Olympic USA Tae Kwon Do  • Certified Kukkiwon World Tae Kwon Do International Black Belt/ Referee in Korea  • Krav Maga certified instructor  • Certified Instructor for Violent Critical Incidents- Active shooter, violent intruder and terrorism  • 10X winner at the Ed Parker’s Long Beach Internationals in California.  • Trained/Coached teams competing throughout the United States and Mexico.  • Hosts the Four Valleys of the Sun Open Karate Championships for the past 33 years.
